The Cranky Monkey Is A Wrap!

The third and final race of the 2008 Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series was held this past Sunday at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA.  Close to 275 racers hammered it out on this super fun and very challenging course.  This was a perfect ending to a wonderful series! 

Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators for making this series a smashing success and a special thanks to Lt. Col Daryl Crane, the Quantico Mountain Biking Team, and Gary Gutshall and Bobby Brown from Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) for helping to make it all happen. 

Thanks also to all those that contributed to the $1000 Bike Lane shopping spree raffle and congratulations to 16 year old Curtis Khol for winning this awesome prize. Close to $1000 was raised through this effort. These funds will be split evenly between two great causes, MORE (Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts) and the Washington Humane Society. Another huge thanks goes out to The Bike Lane for making this possible.

Cranky Monkey Racers Battle It Out At Fountainhead!

Racers were treated to unseasonably cool temps in the second race of the Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series held yesterday at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA. Close to 250 racers in 15 classes battled it out on this technically challenging course riddled with steep hills and rock laden twisty single-track. Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators for helping to make it all happen!

The final race of the series will be held on Sunday, August 24th at the Quantico Marine Corps Base. The Quantico trail network is amazing and a perfect venue to round out the series. This race will be popular, so register today to get in on the action!

The Monkey Rolls Into Fountainhead This Sunday!

The second race of the Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series rolls into Fountainhead Regional Park this Sunday, August 10th. The challenging Fountainhead course is tons of fun and includes plenty of technical terrain, twisty singletrack, and steep hills. Come join the action!

Mother Nature Shines Bright for the Wakefield Make Up Race!

Under blue skies and relatively mild temperatures, close to 80 athletes toed the line yesterday for the running of the Cranky Monkey Make Up Race at Wakefield Park.  The perfect trail conditions resulted in some super fast lap times as racers in the expert, sport male 34-U, and open classes battled it out at the opening race of their series.  Tons of fun was had by all!

The second race of the series will be held this coming Sunday, August 10th at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA.  Register online today to save $10 and to guarantee your spot on the starting line!  Online registration closes at midnight this Thursday, August 7th.   Race day registration on-site will be available if space permits.
