General:

Racers must be familiar with all information outlined in this website as well as any update emails sent to team captains prior to race weekend.
- For the purposes of this race, solo racers must follow the same rules and regulations of a team, unless otherwise instructed.
- All equipment must be provided by racers or by race officials.
- Hydration & Nutrition are the responsibility of each team.
- All checkpoints must be reached in sequential order (CP#1, CP#2, CP#3...).
- Missed checkpoints will result in disqualification, unless otherwise stated (i.e. at cut-off times where a time penalty is assessed).
- NO GPS or positioning devices permitted.
- The use of motorized vehicles during the race is not permitted.
- Racers must wear close-toed shoes at all times during the race.
- Racers must start together, compete together, and finish together.
- Team members must stay within 100 ft. of each other at all times (unless otherwise stated).
- To have passport punched, all three team members must be present at passport control checkpoints.
- Teams that drop out of the race MUST check in with race officials.
- Portable music players or any device that requires earphones are not permitted.
- The race director may change the rules at any time.
Mountain Biking:
- Racers must wear a CPSC, ANSI, or SNELL certified bicycling helmet at all times during the biking sections.
- Each racer is limited to the use of a single bicycle.
- Bikes will not be inspected by race officials for mechanical worthiness.
- Racers may receive help with mechanical difficulties from other racers. No other outside help is permitted.
- Racers with broken or disabled bikes may continue the race (with their bikes!!!). Please yield to all riders.
Paddling: (Canoes for teams, kayaks for solo racers)
- Racers may not use their own canoe/kayak, paddles, or PFDs.
- PFDs must be worn at all times while in the canoe/kayak.
- Teams will receive two or three canoe paddles. Solo racers will receive one kayak paddle.

Grounds for team disqualification/penalties:
- Lost or incomplete passport.
- Loss of a team member for any reason!
- Failure to make cut-off times.
- Failure to wear bike helmet during biking sections. Failure to wear PFD during paddling sections.
- Failure to have mandatory gear.
- Accepting equipment from any source other than teammates, other racers, or race officials during the race.
- Handing off or discarding any equipment during the race, except at the transition area.
- Littering.
- Lack of respect for other racers, volunteers, equipment, or environment - this will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis and is at the discretion of the race director.
Cut-Off Times:
- For safety reasons, teams may not be permitted to complete the full course beyond certain designated times. Cut-off times will provided in your race passport.
