16th Annual Blue Crab Bolt Trail Running Series

Similar to our Backyard Burn races, the Blue Crab Bolt 5K and 10K courses are fun and challenging and include a mixture of winding single-track hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement.

Race in one, two, or all three. After each race, awards are presented to the top five finishers in each age group. In addition, a point system adding competitor’s three-race point totals will be used to determine the top five series finishers in each age group. Series prizes and awards are presented at the final race of the series.

This summertime series will undoubtedly be super popular. So, register early to join in the fun and claim your spot on the starting line.
All races begin sharply at 8:00am with check-in starting at 6:30am.

The trails at Schaeffer Farms are super fun and wonderfully maintained and include twisty single-track, open field running, stream crossings, and several steep hills. Schaeffer Farms has some of the BEST singletrack in all of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Little Bennett Regional Park in Montgomery County, MD is a 3600 acre wooded playground filled with over 20 miles of trails, picturesque streams, and plenty of camping. The races courses at Little Bennett follow twisty and fun single-track hiking trails. There’s also challenging hills and plenty of stream-side running.

Race medals are an optional add-on for each race ($7.50 pre-order and $10 on-site). Racers who complete all three races in the series will receive a special medal at no cost.

Point Series Information

Points are awarded to the top 20 places in each age group using the points schedule below. Our points system rewards consistency and competition. The gradual points curve keeps every place meaningful—so whether you’re chasing podiums or personal progress, every race and every effort counts!

The top 5 most points in each age age group after the last race in the series will win credit towards future EX2 races. $50 for 1st place, $40 for 2nd place, etc. Racers must race in at least 2 of the 3 series races to be eligible for series prizes.
