Seneca Creek Course Description

Join us at Seneca Creek State Park in Montgomery County, MD for a great trail running adventure and the kick-off of the 16th Blue Crab Bolt Trail Running Series! Seneca Creek offers a wonderful natural getaway that is just a stones throw from the city. Lake views, scenic streams, and miles of singletrack hiking trails greet each visitor. These beautiful race courses string together some of the best trails in the park offering the Blue Crab Bolt competitor a fun and challenging run in the woods.

Course Length: 5K-ish (actual distance 3.3 miles) or 10K-ish (actual distance 6.6 miles)
Elevation Gain: 200 feet (5K) or 450 feet (10K)

Race Day Schedule

6:30am – Check-in and bib pick-up opens
8:00am – 5K race starts
8:04am – 10K race starts
8:30am – Post-race food available
9:30am – Free kid’s race *
9:45am – Awards ceremony

* No pre-registration required. We group kiddos by age and do a short out and back run for treasure.

Swag and Medals

Race 1 at Seneca Creek swag is a tri-blend t-shirt (our normal race shirts)
Race 2 at Schaeffer Farms swag is either a tri-blend t-shirt or a tech (polyester) shirt or tank top
Race 3 Little Bennett swag is either a tri-blend t-shirt or custom running socks or car seat cover

Race medals are an optional add-on for each race ($7.50 pre-order and $10 on-site). Racers who complete all three races in the series will receive a special medal at no cost.

We stage the race out of the expo field inside Seneca Creek State Park. Please follow race parking signs once you enter the park. We park in the grass overflow parking area and adjacent paved parking areas.

Race Rules

Portable music players or any device requiring IN-EAR head phones are not permitted.
Outside assistance is only permitted within 50 meters of an aid station.
Race numbers must be worn on the front and must be visible at all times.
There are no cut-off times.
Pets and pacers are not allowed on the course.
Baby strollers are not permitted on the course.
Respect other racers, volunteers, race staff, and the environment. No littering.
Poor sportsmanship may result in disqualification.
Racers must notify race officials if they drop out of the race.
Stay on designated trails.
